Judge Margaret Gettle Washburn has served as a Judge of the Duluth Municipal Court for thirty-five years and the first woman to be appointed to its bench. She is a leader in the judicial community. Judge Washburn is a past president of the Council of Municipal Court Judges of Georgia (CMuCJ)and a recipient of the Frost Ward Lifetime Achievement Award as presented by the CMuCJ in 2016. She is also a frequent instructor at educational programs offered by the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education (ICJE) and was presented with the Glen Ashman Education Achievement Award by the CMuCJ, that honors a municipal court judge that has continued contributions to academics and judicial education for municipal court judges throughout the State of Georgia.

Accordingly, the Mayor, Council of the City of Duluth and Chief Judge Charles Barrett expressed their sincere admiration and appreciation to Judge Washburn for her years of honorable service to the citizens of their city and the State.
