1st District – Derek White, Municipal Court Judge in Port Wentworth and former pro tem in Pooler has just been elected judge of State Court in Chatham County to replace Judge Gregory Fowler upon his retirement at the end of the year.  The election was uncontested.

Also, Billy Tomlinson, Judge in Garden City, Judge pro tem in Port Wentworth and Pooler and co-chair on the Municipal Judges Training Council was elected State Court Judge of Bryan County effective Jan. 1, in an uncontested election.  Judge Tomlinson will retain his municipal court judgeships as well.

6th District – The City of Forsyth has a new (associate) judge; Alyssa Peters took the bench in February.  Her day job is with Constangy-Brooks, “the same firm as my predecessor and former council president, William “Bill” Clifton” states Judge J. Kristie Lovelace.

The City of Fayetteville has a new chief judge, Nailah Grant McFarlane had been serving as the court’s judge pro tem. The position became open when Chief Judge Rhonda Bender Kreuziger was sworn in as an Associate Juvenile Court Judge in the Griffin Judicial Circuit.

10th District – Governor Brian P. Kemp filled a vacancy on the Superior Court of the Middle Judicial Circuit by appointing Judge Tommy J. Smith, Municipal Courts of Alamo, Chauncey and McRae-Helena.  Judge Smith will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Kathy Palmer to run for the Senate.
